The Blackboard Learning System is used to enable and supplement the didactic course. Information on the subject of the class is posted (including internet links to relevant websites), PDF versions of the Powerpoint files used in the lectures are posted, links to self tests on specific subjects are also posted. In addition, lectures from last year’s course were recorded in streaming video and links to these lectures are provided to the students to enhance (and in a few instances, replace) the live lectures.

[edit] Evaluation Scheme:

There will be 8 Quizzes, a Mid Term Exam and a Final Exam. The 8 quizzes will represent 50% of the total grade and the mid term 25% and the final exam 25% of the total grade.

Most of the testing is done on-line through the Blackboard Learning System. For the first time, 1st year students in Radiological Sciences are required to have a wireless-enabled notebook computer so that they can take the tests in class.

[edit] Course Outline:

Teaches anatomy, physiology and commonly used medical terminology as it relates to radiological imaging. Anatomic and physiologic features will be illustrated with radiological images in formats commonly encountered in clinical radiology. By the end of the course, students should be familiar with basic medical terminology and have a good understanding of medical anatomy, physiology and some basic pathology as related to specific organs for which radiological images are commonly applied.
