This is an independent study course intended to comprehensively develop topics in medical health physics. Topics include specific operational health physics issues related to medicine. Topics are selected on the basis of student and faculty interest in health physics. Recent topics have included the design and implementation of a laser safety program suitable for use in a major medical center. Other topics have ranged from the disposal of mixed medical radioactive waste to health physics support of non-sealed radioisotope therapy procedures including patient release criteria. Course is conducted as a series of weekly conferences that are arranged at the time of course offering
