I have been in a variety of educational settings over the course of my twenty plus years in academia, ranging from community college to medical residency programs. I have developed my teaching skills in each of these settings to be appropriate to each audience. I am committed to excellence in the classroom, as well as to forming positive and lasting relationships with students. In an attempt to improve the learning environment for my students, I have embraced the use of technology in the classroom. I have continually fostered collaborative relationships within the academic community to remain involved in scientific research. I have strived to serve my colleagues and my institution by my representation on committees and by performing community service.

Research: Huntington‘s disease I have been doing research in the cellular mechanisms of Huntington‘s disease since 1997. I am especially interested in the development of animal models of this disease. I am interested in the ultrastructural changes in these animal models and analyze this using electron microscopy.

Neuroimaging Upon coming to UTHSCSA (2001)I have been working with investigators at the Research Imaging Center to analyze human brain MRIs. I am involved in several ongoing projects.

Web Course Development I have used WebCT to develop courses since 1997. I have offered several different courses using this platform, and have been an invited consultant to several groups on this topic.
